NEW DELHI, —A Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee delegation, led by DPCC President Shri Devender Yadav, met Commissioner of Police Shri Sanjay Arora, at the Delhi Police Headquarters, Jai Singh Road, New Delhi today, and brought to his notice that he and a team of lawyers went to the Tughlak Road Police Station on May 4, 2024 to lodge a complaint against the BJP leaders, their supporters and unknown individuals, for spreading “fake and distorted news” in the social media against the Congress “to mislead, incite, provoke the public and create enemity between groups” in view of the Lok Sabha elections. He demanded that an FIR should be filed against them and a probe initiated to catch the culprits, but they were made to wait for over two hours at the Tughlak Road Police station before accepting their complaint.
Besides Shri Devender Yadav, the Congress delegation consisted of All India Congress Committee Media and Publicity Chairman Shri Pawan Khera, Social Media Chairperson Ms. Supriya Shrinate, former DPCC presidents Shri Subhash Chopra and Shri Anil Choudhary, AICC secretary Shri Abhishek Dutt, Chairman of the DPCC Communications Department Shri Anil Bhardwaj, ex-MLA Shri Hassan Ahmed, Legal and Human Resources Department chairman Advocate Sunil Kumar, Shri Anoop Shokeen and Shri Abdul Wahid Qureshi.
Shri Devender Yadav gave a detailed account of his bitter experience at the Tughlak Road Police Station, and demanded that the police should be directed to file an FIR forthwith to catch the culprits without wasting any time. Giving an example, Shri Devender Yadav told the Commissioner of Police that an edited video of Shri Rahul Gandhi was being circulated with mischievous intent to discredit Congress and create confusion among the SC/ST/OBC and Minorities to create an impression that Shri Rahul Gandhi had spoken only about the minorities. He demanded that the objectionable and mischievous posts should be deleted from the social media public platforms and action taken against the culprits. Shri Devender Yadav said that on the one hand, police supports the BJP and takes suo moto action on posts against it, and on the other hand, Congress leaders are made to wait for hours when they approach the police to file a complaint against the BJP.
Shri Devender Yadav, in his complaint to the police, had pointed out that objectionable videograph contents were being uploaded in the social media against the Congress to mislead the voters, and create confusion in their minds, and these videos, uploaded by the BJP leaders and their supporters, were available on the social media platforms.
